Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Teeth that are crooked or not in the right place can also detract from one’s appearance. Beautiful, straight teeth blend in to your face and are associated with numerous positive qualities. Nowadays, thanks to state-of-the-art orthodontic techniques, aesthetically pleasing teeth are available to everybody. We also have a 12 months interest free finance options from Q card.
Invisalign and Teeth straightening Auckland
The Invisalign® System is a virtually invisible and hygienic orthodontic treatment that uses an innovative approach to effectively straighten teeth. With our proprietary SmartForce Technology, the Invisalign System uses a series of custom-made removable aligners created for you and only you. These aligners are made of a virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth to gradually move them to the ideal position. Most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them, allowing you to keep your lifestyle during treatment. The Invisalign System is available through Invisalign-trained doctors who determine the treatment plan. Once you and your Invisalign-trained doctor agree that Invisalign treatment is right for you, your doctor will take photos, X-rays, and either impressions or a scan of your teeth. These records will be used to make a 3D treatment plan, referred to as the ClinCheck treatment plan, which will be used to design the custom-made Invisalign aligners. This 3D treatment plan will also show your likely final tooth position at the end of the treatment. Your custom-made Invisalign aligners will be produced and then shipped to your doctor, who will then give you a series of aligners, typically 3 to 4 sets at a time. You will replace each one approximately every 2 weeks until the final position of your teeth is reached.
CAD CAM Dentures
Acrylic dentures.- These are by far the oldest and cheapest type of dentures available; they are made from rigid acrylic material and are a good choice for partial dentures (where only some teeth need to be replaced) as well as full dentures (where all teeth need to be replaced). They can take some getting used to and may have wires to support the dentures. Valplast dentures- Valplast dentures are flexible dentures suited only for partial replacements. They are designed to bend and absorb the forces in the mouth which makes them a lot easier to wear. Unlike acrylic dentures, they do not use metal wires for support and are also less bulky than acrylic dentures. Metal partial dentures- They consist of a metal framework on which the teeth sit. You cannot see the metal framework when you smile and because this framework is thin, it is very comfortable to wear. Its design also makes these dentures very stable and retentive. CAD CAM dentures- Another revolutionary concept in denture options is CAD CAM dentures. With the use of 3shape® dental software our dentist in Panmurewill digitally design the dentures. Thus designed dentures will be sent to digital laboratory and will be 3D printed to highest precisions and comfort.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth are your third molar teeth located at the back of your mouth. They generally start coming into your mouth in your late teens or early twenties. In some people, where there is not enough room for these teeth to come through or erupt, these teeth fail to come though properly, either remaining completely under the gums or partially in the mouth. Why are these teeth such a problem? Often these teeth are very hard to keep clean and will decay easily. With partially erupted wisdom teeth, food can become trapped under the gums causing painful and inflamed gum condition called pericoronitis, pain and facial swelling. They may damage the second molar through crowding or by causing an entrapment area where bacteria and food builds up, causing decay in the second molar.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is necessary with decay in your tooth has reached the living pulp of the tooth, the pulp is exposed due to injury or fracture of the tooth or due to some other reason. The tooth will often be very sore or may have boils appearing at the base of the tooth. Treatment often involves a couple of visits to the dentist. During treatment, your dentist removes the diseased pulp. The pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth are then cleaned and sealed.
Composite fillings: These are white, tooth coloured fillings. Recent developments in the way composites are made have resulted in strong, long lasting filling materials.Being tooth coloured, they are favoured for front teeth and in the smile line.
Glass Ionomer Cements GIC: These are tooth coloured dental materials that usually have a high fluoride content which allows them to help strengthen decayed tooth tissue. They can be used in small fillings, under composite as a base or lining material and also to cement crowns and bridges onto teeth. Temporary fillings: Sometimes, when the decay in the tooth is very close to the pulp, the dentist may decide to put a temporary filling on the tooth after the decay is cleaned, to determine whether the tooth can be filled or if it needs a root canal procedure or extraction. Once the temporary filling is placed, as long as the tooth doesn’t have any pain, you will need to have a permanent filling placed after 2-4 weeks. If the tooth starts getting painful, then filling the tooth is no longer an option, a root canal treatment or extraction would probably required.
Hygiene Cleaning And Polish
Despite our best efforts, brushing twice a day does not remove all the plaque in our mouths, plaque that remains in the mouth will eventually harden and form calculus or tartar. Manual tooth brushing will not be able to remove this tartar and it must be removed by the dentist only. This is done by the dentist with a high frequency vibration scalar that ultrasonically removes the tartar from the tooth surface. The teeth are given a polish with an abrasive paste to make them smooth and to prevent plaque from adhering to the teeth.
